Position Summary
Under the direction of the Supervising Engineer, the Compliance Technician will be required to perform field oriented compliance requirements such as continuous emission monitoring and ambient air quality monitoring audits, manual and instrumental stack sampling, calibration and basic maintenance of field test equipment, manual and computer manipulation of compliance data, water sampling, and gathering of fishery/wildlife field data. The technician will also assist in the completion of written reports for submittal to state and federal regulatory agencies.
Physical requirements for this position will require sitting 30% of time, standing 35% of time, and miscellaneous activities 35% of time. Installing or moving equipment weighing up to 75 lbs. during a test day, at a minimum of 6 test runs, distances up to 100 feet, below shoulders.
Primary Responsibilities
Assists in the auditing of emission monitors as defined by QA plans and regulatory requirements. This includes calibration and basic maintenance of test equipment.
Builds relationships that will facilitate plant understanding and support in compliance with regulatory requirements and will establish a positive, good working relationship with the Regulators.
Conducts EPA Reference Method testing of plant emissions, including both manual and instrumental methods. Assist with report generation to regulatory agencies.
Conducts water sampling of groundwater and surface water locations to meet regulatory requirements. This includes calibration and basic maintenance of test equipment, laboratory preparation of samples, and compilation/management of the water sample database. Assist with annual report generation to regulatory agencies.
Conducts data gathering to meet fishery/wildlife regulatory requirements. This includes calibration and basic maintenance of test equipment.
Assists in a variety of topics including support in data acquisition and handling systems, waste management activities, completion of written reports for submittal to state and federal regulatory agencies, and facilitate field work with state and federal agency personnel.
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.
Basic Qualifications
Two year science related degree
Word, Excel, Database software experience. Basic equipment (pumps, monitors, electrical) operation and maintenance skills.
Good people skills to be able to effectively communicate with public when in the field and regulators during field inspections.
Good driving skills including experience with towing.
Self-directed to complete routine activities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong client-service orientation, ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in science related field (four year degree)
Level I (entry) - 1 year --- Level II (support) - 4 years --- Level III (senior) - 7 years
